Planet Cyclery
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this company. The prices are so much cheaper than they are in Canada. Wanna order Dura-Ace component set and Dura-Ace pedals. I am upgrading from Ultegra for my 2008 Madone 5.2 Pro. Thanks for any info.

Purchase Dura-Ace pedals from them in April without issue. Fast shipping and great prices.

Amazingly coincidental first time posters, both on the same topic, both bought the identical item from the same place. Nice job.

I bought a pair of Shimano SPD pedals from them a couple of months ago on eBay. One pedal had damaged threads so I returned them and asked for an exchange and they agreed. After approx. three weeks of not receiving the exchanged pedals and them telling me "they are just fine and work on our bikes" and repeated requests for an exchange I demanded a refund. They emailed back saying that they had "just mailed the new pair yesterday" but in reality they didn't ship until after I demanded the refund!
When the "new" pedals arrived, they were the original damaged ones I had sent back. I contacted them asking WTF they were trying to pull and they then said they wouldn't take back "used" merchandise (I never used the pedals as I couldn't mount them) and I would have to keep them despite there ads offering refunds or exchanges. I had to go through eBay Customer Protection and eBay issued me a refund. Planet Cyclery is absolutely the WORST seller I have ever dealt with and I wouldn't take anything from them if they were giving it away! |
Just bought a Campy chain with no issues. Maybe I'll reconsider ordering again ^ ?
|
I bought my Ultegra carbon pedals at a great price in March without any problems.
|
Those two may be suspicious, but I bought a pair of 25c GP4KSes earlier this season from them. I have more than a couple of posts.

There, post number two. I'll go back to reading. |
They seriously make carbon pedals?...
|
Used them once delivery took 3 times longer than they stated it would.

Wow, after reading all of those negative posts I would also look elsewhere. I will consider myself lucky that my purchase worked out.

I don't know them, never dealt with Planetcyclery. But in all fairness out of 16676 items sold, they got 59 negatives, giving them 99.6% positive feedback. If I owned a bike real bike store, I would gladly let Mike Tyson bike my ear off for that kind of customer satisfaction ;) Perhaps it's better to show ALL feedback, not just the negs: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...ab=AllFeedback from reading the negs it seems they have a problem with their communication, meaning if everything goes well, no problem. But if there is an issue, then it's a crap shoot... Just another reason to support your LBD :) |

Never had issues with them. Ordered several items in the past.
|
Ultegra 6700 cassette from them with no issues. Always use credit card with Paypal. I feel safer, even though I have to jump through Paypal/ebay's dispute process.
Agree, 99.6% is really good feedback, especially with how many orders they've dealt with. Sometimes people are just ******** and order the wrong item and blame it on the seller for not accepting a return. |
I agree that their feedback % is good. So when everything goes well, they do a good job. But when a mistake is made they're hard to find, they promise to fix things & drag their heels and in the end you have to fight to get your stuff. When I buy something from a company that's thousands of miles away I want a company that handles the deal when it goes wrong. It's easy to do the right thing when things go well. How you handle the exceptions is what separates the good from the garbage. And kudos for them for having such a small % of mistakes to deal with, it's just a shame that they don't deal with them better. I'd pass & stick to reputable companies that don't blame me for their mistakes, or simply ignore my issues.

I don't trust ebay ratings because too many of the sellers game the system.

Bought a 2012 Ultegra group from them a couple of months ago. Great to deal with.
