Knee Pain

*not sure if this goes here but here goes*

Background: been riding since May of this year. about 3-4 times a week usually, sometimes only once or twice. platform pedals

About three weeks ago, the back (?) of my left knee started hurting on the downstroke after about 50km. This has never happened before, so I took a week off. The next time, I rode about 20km and I started to feel the same pain. This time not as severe, but still annoying. So waited a few days and today, the pain came back, again less severe from the previous time. It never hurts the next day or after I get off the bike. Only while riding. It's always the left knee, always the back of the knee.

The only thing that's different is that the weather is much colder and I started wearing bicycle shorts with a pad. I've also been riding less lately. Once or twice a week,

Any ideas? Thanks

I bought my first bike used which means no bike fitting, I was having pain in my knees but the front. I moved things (saddle) around but couldn't figure it out. I decided to suck it up and pay for a "pro fit" very expensive but since I got it there have been NO pains anywhere. From my experience, a saddle to low means pain in the front of the knee, to high means pain in the back of the knee. I didn't make that up, the fitter gave me that info. My saddle was MUCH to low so my knees were taking a beating. This may not be your case but you asked for any ideas so....

The only other thing I can think is maybe arthritis :)
