Garmin Edge Taiwanese version

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Garmin Edge Taiwanese version

Hi Friends,

Garmin Edge 500 is available at Ebay for an amazing price of ~$US200 including Cad. sensor. Although the seller delcares that it is a Taiwanese version he promissed me that I will not have any issue with it and it is full English compatible. yet I found an articale that said it is not and directions (N/S/E/W) will be in Chinese.

Did any of you purchased this item? Is there anything I need to be aware of? I know that warranty might be an issue...

Thanks.

I would have to pass on that, now if you insist on throwing away $200 just give it to me and call it the day.

I bought an Israeli Edge 800. It was fine. Ebay has buyer protection. Manuals are available online.

Send a PM to BDop. He lives in Taiwan.

And if you end up buying it, pls post your review here.

I came very close to buying one. It is my understanding that the English language option gives you 99% English. I ended up finding a good deal on a used 500, so I went that way, instead. And to date, I have NEVER used the N,S,E,W bearing option, so if that was the only thing that was wrong, I probably wouldn't know it. I also almost bought this English version:http://www.ebay.com/sch/gps-r-us/m.h...p2047675.l2562 Seemed to be the best deal for a full US version.

As far as warranty, I have no experience, but the overall feel of the board is that Garmin is pretty good with it. If you send them a dead unit, plus $89 (I think that's the amount), they'll send you a refurb'd unit. I don't remember anyone saying they had to show proof of purchase. You may get a different color, though.

Please let us know what you decide and how it goes.
