Lube???

I'll start training soon for a 100 mile ride and kept hearing people talk about having to lube up their ass before their ride(s). Can anyone explain this to me?

Sorry if it's in the wrong part in these fourms, i'm new.

Some people get saddle sores, and prefer to use chamois creme to help prevent them.
Never had the need, personally.

That's an easy one!it's for when you finish, and the only place around is a village people tribute bar for a congratulatory drink! Just givin ya crap ha.on a ride that long, you will want some on your jewels and such for chafing

Oh boy.

caloso 12-13-12 06:46 PM

Do a search for chamois cream.

You didn't even have to reply, but I did laugh at you. Thanks.:thumb:

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. Not all of us have been doing this for years. More like just started learning about it.;)

Be happy. Most of us didn't ask your question until after we needed it.

Years ago cycling chamoises were actually chamois sheep skin. They would get stiff and hard so they would put lanolin (also from sheep) on them to soften them up. The sheep skin went away but riders kept using the cream.

Get a pair of proper cycling shorts or bibs. I prefer bibs. Get in some rides and see if you are having any issues with chafing, discomfort and then consider a chamois lubricant. I have never used them. Been riding since the early 80s but just on a recreational level, never more than a few hundred miles in a week ever, and usually much less than that.

The OP just wanted to use the words "lube" and "ass" in a single post. Well done :thumb:

But really...it's not that kind of "ride". If you are lubing your ass, you are doing it wrong...or right, depends on the ride, I guess.

Who here hasn't wanted to use the words "lube" and "ass" in a single post? I think the OP should be lauded for allowing at least two of us to live out our dream!

rumrunn6 12-14-12 02:39 PM

I believe this is as good a place for lubed ass questions as any

rumrunn6 12-14-12 02:40 PM

I think Looigi just wanted to say stiff and hard in the same thread as the OP said lube and ass

Andy Somnifac 12-14-12 02:45 PM

Sour cream. You'll be all set.
