Christmas 2012 rides

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Christmas 2012 rides

Anybody putting in some miles today (Christmas Eve) or tomorrow? I did 10+ miles around town this afternoon while my son and wife napped at home. Road thru the Walmart parking lot and had to just SMH at the bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Christmas morning will be spent on the bike. Did 36 today (63 Sunday and 69 Saturday) and probably another 55-60 tomorrow morning. Trying to preempt the massive amount of food and cookies I'll be cramming down my face tomorrow lol

Christmas Eve - 30 minutes on the spin bike, 15 minutes rowing, and 45 minutes on the treadmill.

I was so sore after my first two workouts (21st and 22nd), felt a bit better after my workout yesterday, and today's wasn't so bad. There's something to be said for sticking to it.

Christmas Day - the gym will be closed and we'll be going to visit family, so I'm not sure if we'll get any sort of workout in, but it might be a good time for a rest day anyway.

Boxing Day - the gym is open again from noon to 4 pm, so I suspect we'll be back in the gym again ... unless the weather improves dramatically and suddenly.

I did a new record of 70.1 miles with my trek mountain bike from Palo alto to SFO airport and back! It was tiring but fun. Merry Christmas everyone! And be safe.

No miles today after two hard rides over the weekend. Did a little shopping today, saw 'The Hobbit', went to church.

Christmas morning I'll cycle with my best friend, before hitting the pig fest in the afternoon. Likely to be a lot of tamales to eat

Got 35 miles in, fighting the 30+ winds but the temps were good. Can't wait for the food this afternoon !

My wife wanted me to run some quick errands in the neighborhood. I decided to do them by bicycle and stretched a couple of quick stops into a 32 mile ride on this beauty.

(The rebuild of the wheels was her present to me.)

Got called into work yesterday, so I took the long way (25 miles). Obviously not a critical issue.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I just got back from a 25 mile Christmas morning ride at 27 degrees outside. I had to get a ride in today because we are supposed to get 10 inches of snow tomorrow with 40 mph winds and I hate riding on my trainer inside.

Just about to head out for 40-50 miles. It's 55 degrees with 12 mph north winds.

Didn't get to ride today as it was still damp from rain last night. Instead, I went for a 4 mile run that kicked my butt pretty hard. If it doesn't continue raining tonight, I'll probably get at least 30 miles in tomorrow.

Cold is definitely relative.

I got in another ride today, a quick 12.2 mile spin after the kids were done opening presents this am. Garmin 500 said it was 35 this AM. I put my shoe covers on and was quite toasty the whole ride.

21 miles on the trainer. boring, but it always feels good to ride. I downloaded several long cycling videos off YouTube, like Paris-Roubais; TdF segments, and others that a from 1.5 hours and up, so I have plenty to watch.

lol no, hospital, and also happens to be the tallest building in the county. Walmart is just across the road to the left from there, more or less.

Rode 17 miles after work on Christmas Eve. just a short spin around my neighborhood and a few laps around a local crit course.

Did 52 miles on Christmas, and it was crazy windy. I rode mostly east-west, and the trip out wasn't so bad, but the one back was right into a headwind.
