2012 total miles and other trivial data- let's hear 'em

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After a five-year absence from biking due to getting married, having two kids, running a business, absolute chaos, and a significant bit of associated weight gain, I jumped back on my road bike in June. Since then:

- 3436 total miles
- 153 rides
- 16.85 mph average speed.
- Over 30 pounds lost

Next year, I'm going to shoot for 7000 miles. Great stuff.

6800ish miles (not everything is reflected in the Strava numbers below). Lots of heart beats. Lots of pedal revolutions.

Started racing. Upgraded to Cat 4. Didn't kill myself or anyone else.

Actually, I also have an interesting statistics. In 3400 miles of cycling, I only managed to get 24700 feet of climbing. Don't let anyone tell you that Chicago isn't flat.

Hi
I went on 29 road rides in 2012(mostly Saturdays), total 1930 km- average distance of 66.5 km per ride, average time per ride was 02:39 hrs- total of 76:49 hrs of riding. This includes 8 cycling races between of 80- 110 km's. I did not count the winter rides on a spinning bike in the gym (100 gym visits for the year). This was my 2nd year of cycling. Average speed in races was 27.93km/h vs average training rides pace of 23.7 km/h.
I only have a basic cycle computer and updates my spreadsheet after every ride. I had 2 punctures on these rides. We have wind most of the time in Capetown. I still have way to go ito mileage when I compare with you guys

LowCel...I hope you have a better year health wise. You work testing inoculations or something?

Edit- In the spirit of the thread, I got in a little over 3000 this year, short of my goal. I lost a great deal of information due to using a Cateye without keeping up my spreadsheet which accounted for nearly 1500 miles. Logged 1210 on Strava and 958 on MMR.
