The closest we have to that is someone in the regional transportation organization who promotes cycling events. But there's only so much one can do with very little budget.

Our RedState Nut legislature would laugh at the idea of more than a token amount of our precious gas tax money going to MUPs.

You have a road bike that is more than sufficient for getting out on the vast majority of the year. I just pointed out that a CX bike won't add much unless a high percentage of your rides are going to be rail trails or dirt roads. On the other hand, the amount of good mtb riding and some Wintery months are a pretty good argument for the increased versatility a nice mtb offers.

The trails around here are really well maintained and not as crazy as you associate with me. Where road biking is a bit more refined, the second you get on a FS mountain bike it is non-stop fun. Get your SS, niche, color matched inner city tool if you want and I won't say a word more against the idea. Just trying to enlighten you to trying new experiences.

Ah. Yeah, I think that I'm more after something to address dirt/gravel and messy (snowy) pavement rather than straight up MTB. Once upon a time MTB appealed to me. Now, not so much. Maybe I just have to try it as you say, but I just feel 'meh' on it (though some of the 29ers at REI looked interesting).

Sure.

She's going off to ride here next. I want to go along.

Thanks. It was nice to spend a little quiet time here talking about bikes. We should do that more often.

It was nice to see. Completely out of the norm, but nice to see.

I reckon the taiwan gov is promoting cycling to try and avert further healthcare costs.

I could tell you that, but I am not sure that is the truth. Just look at what they have done to the Cervelo paint schemes.

in the past i read about american bicycle ruining lightspeed. Is PON going to ruin raleigh?

I ride and race my November everywhere, but I do think I will be doing Cobb Lake on my Ridley. The strange noises the CF bikes were making when they hit the dirt/washboard surface, made me cringe.

I also continue to check in on the November Bikes website to verify they have my frame size in stock. Just in case.

Velo Vol likes to use the Canadian gratuitous "u".

Stop teasing Velo Vol, he might go on strike again!

How does one know if one has accumulated sufficient infractions so as to be banned?

Is it tracked somewhere? Or does it silently accumulate until *boom* you're banned?

miyata man 01-04-13 10:34 AM

If you don't know you needn't worry. ;)

Does anybody live in an apartment and not work on their own bikes?
Does anybody live in a tin shack and work on their own bikes?
Does anybody live in a house and work on their own bikes?
Does anybody live in a van down by the river and work on their own bikes?

coasting 01-04-13 10:41 AM

I used to do all my bike work. Now I don't even have proper tools.

I first submitted my citizenship application in July. I have not made it past the "application received" stage yet. They don't let in just anyone.

gsteinb 01-04-13 10:46 AM

I'm all but forbidden from wrenching my own bikes. I change tubes. That's about the extent of it.
