thanks. that was only the old road bikes, with one outlier. I didn't post the recumbents, folding bike, other oddball old bikes. I think I have around 25 - 30 bikes. it's a disease. and they breed like rabbits. We (I) have even got about seven bikes for our son. He can't even crawl yet.

Thanks a bunch! I hope everyone stays well- the flu is spreading like wild fire. I refuse to get it.

All of our pets are about the same age, and they'll probably start dropping at about the time my boy can understand the situation. Another reason that I dread when that time will come. Best of luck with Sam.

On the road home. Calling it quits for the day at a little over 500 miles in Lexington, KY. Trying out some southern comfort food now.

My girlfriend lost 3 Greyhounds in one year. Fortunately, she doesn't have any kids. My other friend said "with life comes death". Didn't make me feel any better.

good wishes to Tamparaleigh's wife and Pcad's pooch. I hope both have a very successful outcome from the doctors/vet.

Would it be much different on a multi-speed?

That's long enough to get wet. A couple weeks ago I got stuck with a lower 40Fs ride with light rain at the start (not at all dressed for it). Fortunately, the rain died out after about 3 miles.

some very nice bikes here. I'd pretty much have to sell all my collection to afford a decent plastic bike (prices are more expensive here). I wouldn't want to have just one bike for commuting, fun rides, occasional races, or offroad. my requirements in a commuter include full length mudguards, dynamo (preferably dynohub) lighting systems, puncture resistant tyres and racks or large saddlebags. that adds too much weight for a leisure only bike. I'll ride some of the others to work in summer when there's plenty of light to see and be seen by.

Nice to have you back. I wondered where you were. I rode on the sidewalk a while back and wanted to let you know your grandmother didn't run me over.

gnome 01-08-13 06:08 PM

oh, BillyD, the fork on your Schwinn looks bent. did you crash it into any parked or stationary objects?

no but I could have ridden faster on my road bike and thereby gotten home sooner

She's been having some eye issues which aren't helping the situation. Deerfield Beach.

Another Rottie?

I'm thinking Dobie this time - I've always wanted one. I wouldn't have any problem going Rottie again, though. They are frikkin' great dogs!

Actually I would have one of each, but my other half would be eternally unhappy.

welcome back rwtw!

our cats didn't really mourn for phoenix, but since she was kind of the matriarch, and a cranky *****, it took a little while for the other three to figure out the hierarchy. i'm still not sure which one is dominant. they all kind of "own" their own territory in the house.

i bonded with the kitten we had for 6 months earlier this year, and while she's alive and better off in LA with my mother in law, i miss her so much. i think it's because the other three like mr. ts more than me, but gracie was mine.

Yes, I mean you know it's coming, there's nothing you can do to change it, a new pup will help ease the pain. 2 to 4 weeks would be enough grieving for me.

I still miss Star, she was such a sweetheart she can never be replaced in my heart. But I got to have another dog around me.

Yes, I only had one crash with that bike over a gazillion miles, and that was just 4 or 5 years ago, so that may have done it.

It still rides fine . . . a plastic bike woulda asploded! :innocent:

@SA, you are really lucky you didn't get into a car accident and perhaps kill someone. Fact is, you are not in control if you spent 2 hrs. on the phone with Dolly after telling us it's completely over and you have to move along.

Meh, I really wasn't all that drunk. I was fairly certain I would of passed the breathalyzer. One of the good things that should help me in court, is the officer even wrote how polite and cooperative I was throughout the process in the police report. My attorney said that will really help.

As for the other situation. You're right I wasn't in control as much as I wanted to think I was. This wake up call I had was just what I needed. It didn't matter how many times people gave me advice, she always knew just what so say to reel me back in. Now that my life is in utter chaos, and completely in turmoil once again. I have no choice, but to shut her completely out and work on putting the pieces back together. I can't ever let her or anyone else ever effect me this way.

As you could expect Bentley was here for me. I woke up that morning feeling depressed, like I had hit rock bottom. Bentley laid his head on my chest, and tried to comfort me. He is such a great dog. He could tell something was wrong. I love that dog.
