Trainer problem

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trainer problem

Hi everyone, I have a question about my trainer.......it's a blackburn magnetic. Initially it was fine, then teh resistance unit started making alot of noise, so loud that it was not rideable. So I sent it back and blackburn replaced the resistance unit and now it's a quiet as ever. The problem now is that when the bike is locked in, it is leaning slightly to the right, even when the resistance unit in not engaged. I tried re-mounting it several times, then tried with another bike and the same problem, a slight lean to the right. Has anyone ever experienced this or have any ideas what could be the problem? I'd rather not send it in again b/c by the time I get it back it will be time to go outside again.

THanks

My trainer leans left a little. When I put the bike in, it is strait but when I sit on the bike, the left clamp sags a little. I just put a small rug under the left side to straiten it up.

There is just some up and down movement in the clamp that you have to deal with. More expensive trainers may not do this as much, but mine is old and cheap....

It is probably bent. Either send it back or if you can wait to send it back till spring, shim it. Put a thin piece of something under the side that's low and level it out.

i had the same problem with my blackburn, if i put some triflow on it the noise would go away for about 3 hrs of riding. I took it back to my bike shop and he called blackburn since it has a 5 year warrenty and the piece is 2.5 years old they said to trash it and they gave him a credit on it. So i purchased a cycle ops fluid and its so much better than the blackburn. I cant believe they told him to throw it away. I would of took it back and just put tri flow on it as a back up.

I would have made a deal with the guy, had him give me a little less of a full refund to give it back to me and used it until it completely exploded. Then I would have bought a new Cyclops.
