brake hood type

I'm wanting to replace these aero hoods with new ones. I can't find a brand name on the levers, they are the original levers from my 1986 Schwinn Prelude, any ideas of what kind to purchase ? The brake hood in the background shows that it takes a partial type that doesn't extend up over the top of the brake, possibly one would fit over it? http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=295605

Those look like Dia-Compe levers. The "partial" hood is a remnant of the original full hood.

I would check with the fellas in classic and vintage.

thanks for your help, I'm the original owner of the bike, it never had more of a hood on it then what you see on the lever in the background. Looking online I've never come across one like this.

Yup, Dia Compe Gran Compe Aero levers. Crane Creek use to make those brakes and levers also, but not any more.

that looks to be them, nice find! I thought dia compe would have put their name on it somewhere. I wonder why mine came with just a partial hood. The hoods on ebay appear to be as much as a new set of standard dia compe brake levers with hoods. I'm wondering if it's worth keeping these old ones ?

You could hunt down some hoods, but having used those levers years ago I agree that just replacing them would be easier (besides, they were never anything to crow about). Looks like your bar tape is toast anyway, new levers will probably work better.
