Nice frame - looks to be my size too (60-62)??
I voted all black, because black goes nicely with the deep red and smoked chrome. If it was regular bright chrome, all silver would be my choice. |

Not that I started with a vintage frame, but I just went through the identical debate and ended up with this on Saturday:

Nashbar aluminum $69
The chromed steel fork was the same price at the same place. No road time yet so I don't know how that will ride, but I've built other bikes on that frame and it isn't bad. |

Spot on! It's a 61 c-c, with a 58.5 TT.

Here are some of the modern builds I've done, for reference:

I think for your frame, I would do:
- black components - black rims - silver spokes/hubs - black or white saddle/bar tape, but they must match each other |
I am officially voting all black but with silver spokes, a white saddle, and white bar tape.

Sweet. Top tube is a little long for me - I usually like a 57-57.5 TT.
Ratfink - NICE rides! I picked the frame up today - I had it at my local framebuilder to get the back end properly set to 130mm (versus Sheldon's 2x4 method). He had a set of the UBI wheels on hand (the same setup I'll probably get), and the shiny brake track REALLY showed me how dark the chrome really is. He and I stood back and looked at it while chatting, and we both agreed that black components would look great on the frame, more so than polished alloy. The black rims looked great, and the stickers weren;t too over the top (I had assumed I would remove them). I should get the seatpost in the next day or two, so I'll mount it, the saddle, and the bars/stem and snap some pics to help get a sense of how the "black build" might look. I also have a polished stem on hand, and an old plished seatpost that I might throw on for contrast. |

. This is right in line with what I'm thinking. seeing that wheel in the frame (black hub, black rim w/machined track, shiny spokes/nipples) really drove it home for me. |
I so excited to see this.

Should be a nice looking build!
What height do you normally set your saddle to? We could be size brothers! |

Ultegra SL would look awesome.

For those that are interested in the older frames with newer parts they is a 100 page thread in the C&V section.
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...STI-s-or-Ergos I am currently working on a 1984 Puegeot PGN10 that should end up there in about a week. |

The black Athena crank has nice charcoal chainrings that would look really nice IMO with the smoked chrome, and the white graphics on the black Athena stuff would tie in pretty well. Hmmmm...... alloy or black, alloy or black......... |

IMO the polished lugs and bright chrome on the Cinelli frame just beg for an alloy group like you've done. My conundrum is the "smoked" chrome and deep red, both of which have elements of black (take a peek at the photo with the closeup of the headtube/fork). The chrome on mine has alot of black in it. The cool thing is that whichever way I go, I think it'll look great. Hard to go wrong on this one. Here's one that has a different color scheme, different chrome, but is pretty close to one of my build options. Damn nice looking with that alloy, I must say. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Ciocc-Ciocc-S...v9w~~60_57.JPG |

That is some mighty dark chrome.
i still think I am leaning to black, but that black ciocc has me second guessing. Where did you find that? |

The chrome is dark - it is more like gunmetal gray, very pretty, especially with that deep red metallic paint. I really do think I can do no wrong with this, even going with an alloy group and black post/stem would look beautiful. The black is still pulling me, though. |
