I thought you were after effective shoe covers, not a fashion statement (or anti-statement). My mistake. Over-shoe socks are the most versatile shoe covers around, in my experience; also the cheapest. There are other brands, but DeFeet are pretty good, fashion aside.

In the end, the shoes are wrong. I believe StanSeven is correct, and that my feet are cold because of poor blood flow. I never have a problem with cold feet, on or off a bike.
I will be driving to San Jose this weekend, so I will be stopping by that store.
Monterey is lacking in places to purchase bicycle accessories. My LBS only carries Specialized products, including shoes. Want another brand? Sorry. The local Sports Authority does not even carry bikes! REI is the best local option for selection.
I wasn't criticizing your advice or the product itself, just their statement. It is completely the reverse from what I think should be the norm. Brand names add a distinct flair?

I dunno if "rude" is the right word, after all, this is the internet, but you ask advice and I spend a couple minutes trying to help you out only to have it dismissed out of hand because "the product logos are all wrong" is a bit shocking is all.
