Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Parlee Z5i Arrived

Took me a long time to decide what bike to get to replace the Madone but finally decided on a Z5 from Parlee. I'm getting it built with DA9000 coupled with Mavic Cosmic Carbone Tubulars. I'm a big hockey fan and as you can tell by the colours a huge Montreal Canadiens fan! I have to say the paint on this bike is out of this world, it's so smooth and the colour is deep. I don't care if the paint takes it out of Weight Wennie world I just like bikes that jump out at you but I think this is a good balance between flash and tasteful. I'm hoping to have it built up soon but there really is no big rush but when it's done I'll post some pictures in hot or not.
The colours came out really nice

Very nice. The deepest looking paint I've seen on CF before.

That's a handsome frame, a gorgeous red and it looks like that blue will really shine in the sunlight.

It really must have turned out well. I was at work today and my wife dropped my son off at shop for a trainer session and she went and took a look. She's a non cyclist but texted me and said "now I see why you were so excited, that's sexy!" That's something coming from her.

It's a really nice looking frame. Judging by the unit on the front of the bottom bracket, are you setting it up for Di2/EPS?

Also as a Habs fan, it sucks that they lost tonight at home...

Also a big hockey fan but a western conference team with all sorts of injuries. Looks like a long, lockout shortened season for me. I'm also looking at a Z5 and hope to test ride one once the warm weather arrives. Thanks for posting up the pictures and good luck!

Yeah I was not real happy with the outcome last night plus I hate to say Boston loks real good and it seems like Chara can beat Montreal by himself. As for the battery mount, all the 2013 Z5's come with it, I'm putting 9000 mechanical on the bike.

As a Mtl ex-pat I can say stunning looking frame! I used to sharpen the skates for many of the habs back before they had a computerized machine circa 1987-88.

That paint just looks so rich and luscious. Definitely sounds like it will be an incredible build, congrats!

It's getting close to finished, cut the steerer, bar tape, speedplays, front brake cable, some black cages instead of white, the red saddle is a test saddle to see if I like the Selle Italia SLR, melt the snow and ride.
