Finding really large sized jerseys is a pain...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Finding really large sized jerseys is a pain...

My LBS quit carrying a full line of clothing since most of it sat around and didn't sell. I bought everything they had left in my size over a year ago. He won't order anything large sized that might end up sitting like the other large size stuff. I figured it would be no big deal and started ordering jerseys offline. Well, I am on my third jersey that doesn't fit. I don't know who or where they are finding XXL people who are half my damned size, but that is what these feel like. So far I have tried one brands club and race cut in that size to no avail. (the other brand was Castelli, and apparently they are ALL midgets) At this point the only "truly" XXL jersey I have found has been the ones I got at the shop last year, made by Specialized.

I will not order another jersey from Performance. I have no issue at all with their shorts, bibs, or tights but can't find a jersey to fit me. Does anyone have any suggestion on where I might find an XXL jersey that will fit like any XXL shirt you can buy from any store, anywhere?

Shop online, the XXL stuff is always half price because their stuck with 'em. Find a brand + model that fits you (other than specialized) , and start ordering online. Chainreaction, realcyclist, competitivecyclis, ribblescycles, etc.

You will find some really nice prices. try looking for sugoi, giordana, capo etc... there surely 1 brand that'll fit...

The way you say "surely fit" scares me a bit. I wear XXL more for the length than the size. I could wear single x, but they always show a bit of my back or stomach standing. I am a really weird size torso and arms.

I am apparently close in size to you, I had problems finding XXL kit last year. My regular does have a few items in my size, I have a good pair of Cannondale shorts I purchased there. No jerseys from them, though. I looked at another LBS Saturday since my brother gave me a generous gift card from them for Christmas. No jerseys beyond medium at all. I asked the guy there about a LS XXL jersey, no joy for that with them, they are done with the winter kit until next fall at the earliest. I got my last two XXL jerseys on line, Nashbar and Amazon had them. Both fit me great and have held up really well. LS Castelli from Nashbar and an optic yellow hi viz SS from Amazon, cannot remember the brand.

The LBS guy said they don't sell enough of the larger kit to justify stocking it regularly. I suspect that on-line shops will be my store for kit more and more. now, with the economy being what it is. When my finances allow I want to try some better grade kit I have seen and liked, hope that happens relatively soon. best of luck in finding what you need in the XXL sizes, it can be challenging.

I am quite surprised you found a Castelli that fit you. I purchased one of the hi-vis SS jerseys in XL, just to see...and it fit my son tight, who wears a medium right now. I looked like stuffed sausage in that thing. I have come to a point where I have more that don't fit, new, in the drawer than GOOD ones that fit. Now, where it comes to holes, stained, faded, and pulled...I have that covered.

In my experience, Nashbar's house brand runs rather large. I am a L/XL guy and their M fits me great, with a little bit of room.

Hi, my dad has the same problem and he usually shops online (as they have a size chart and more options). Try looking at funkycyclewear they have a few decent designs and they offer I think 4XXL or even 5XXL...good luck!

What are your expectations in a jersey and your build? Most jerseys are supposed to fit snug so there's nothing lose flapping in the wind. Are you looking at "club" fit?

Nope. Sizing on cycling jerseys has absolutely no correlation to sizing in the real world. I have a 52" chest and wear 2xl in real life. That translates to 3-5xl in cycling jerseys - depending on manufacturer. Your best bet is to measure your chest and always check a company's sizing charts. You are probably going to find that outside of Performance, Aerotech, and Nashbar there aren't a lot of options for bigger guys.

I know some guys who are NFL linebacker size just get mountain bike jerseys as they are a little more open in the shoulder area than typical club fit. They still fit tight as you don't want them loose at all.

With jerseys and shorts I pretty much refuse to order anything online unless I've already tried on or bought that brand/model. It ends up being a frustrating crapshoot. I found a Primal jersey that fit me great so I ordered another one of their jerseys (different color/design) and, of course, it didn't fit. I had actually called Primal before ordering it and they said it should fit the same...

If you aren't rail thin it can be so difficult to find a jersey that isn't too tight off the bike and simultaneously too loose on the bike.

REI outlet has a selection of 2XL jerseys. A couple of them state 'relaxed' fit:

Canari tends to run large - even the XL is a little loose on me (I usually wear XXL) and Performance is a little baggy too at XXL. Pearl Izumi is either loose or tight, the challenge is figuring out which sizing model they're using for a given product line. Pace sportswear runs true to size for me and that no fear stuff does too if you can find one that isn't ridiculous.

You have options, just shop at a place that lets you return for free.

I have the exact same problem. I can life with the tightness around but I just hate when they are too sort in torso length. I have found that Canari seems to fit best. Seems as though none of the Italian, European makers think about US cut and sizing. When you do find them that fit buy as many as you can. I have reordered the same stuff (or so I thought) later and it didn't fit. I have the same problems when finding a bib that is "tall" enough as well. You would think at least a few company's would listen up. I know tons of people in the same boat.

'Cat,
I had my head up my butt when I replied, I just looked and the jersey I have the fits so well is a Canari brand not Castelli. Don't know what caused that brain fart by me, sorry. I go the Canari on sale at Nashbar last fall, 2XL, blue LS jersey. Gets worn a lot in the cooler weather.

Canari is getting a few votes - and they had a few on REI outlet. I grabbed a couple of Canari jerseys about a year ago from them. Pretty nice quality and club sizing. Best of luck to you OP.
