What would you get?

Maybe this has been done before, but what make and if you want, model, of bike would you get if money were not an object? Alot of people talk about what they ride, but for many of us what you ride and your dream bike are two different objects. Let's hear it.

55/Rad 02-09-05 06:34 PM

An '04 Lemond Tete de Course with a custom paint job and spec'd with my choice of components.

Man, I would love to someday ride this bike.

Madone SSL with 190 mm custom cranks, full record, zipp TT wheelset, around 14 pounds.

For real a Obrea Orca full carbon with record, spinery or zipp carbon wheelset. EC90 full carbon components custom paint.

forum*rider 02-09-05 06:41 PM

Look 585 frame, Zipp 202 wheels, full record groupo, carbon handlebars/seatpost/etc.

I like carbon:)

Panoramic 02-09-05 06:43 PM

There's this cannondale bike I've seen, dual suspension w/ lockout, carbon trame and just nice all around. I don't need a $7000 road bike, I'm happy with mine. My mountain bike is close to dying though.

hi565 02-09-05 06:45 PM

oh lets see hmmm this bike definetly http://rooworld.com/images/2005/lucero_bike.jpg Quintana roo lucero with da double 10 sp. mmmmmmm

:roflmao: Geez Rad, you ever wonder if after this amount of time that your expectations will be so built up that it might be hard for reality to live up to them? I'm no instant gratification junkie, but your wait is reaching mythic proportions. Hope you're good to go by the time Spring rolls around... :)

Machka 02-09-05 07:08 PM

The most plain, boring-looking, non-descript, steel bicycle ... could be an old ten-speed frame, perhaps a hybrid, maybe a hardtail mtn bike ... I'd want the paint to be chipped and worn ... I'd want the thing to look just about ready for the scrap heap. And I think I might want to add a pretty pink basket. :)

But I'd want it to have good components (wouldn't need to be the most expensive or anything) so that it ran very well and was easy to take care of.

That, and a recumbent, and an ordinary, and maybe a Bruce Gordon. :D

pearcem 02-09-05 07:25 PM

i think i would go with a madone SSL or a specialized s-works tarmac frame, record components, Zipp Z3 wheels, and everything else that can be (excecpt the seat) carbon

Dutchy 02-09-05 07:27 PM

Pinarello Dogma. Better start saving. Cha-ching!

caloso 02-09-05 07:32 PM

When I win the lottery, I'm going down the street to Steve Rex's shop and have him hand-build me a rolling work of art.

Good thing I have all the brand spanking new components just laying around the house. You should see me playing cyclist in front of the TV with the Deda Alanera bar/stem combo. Vroooooom vroooom.

Steve makes some very nice frames.

Orbea Onix with Zipp 303 wheels. Or a Cannondale Six13, with the Zipps. Or a Pinarello Dogma.

honduraz10 02-09-05 08:31 PM

i think its already been said but after i win the lottery im goin for a pinarello dogma http://www.pinarello.com/eng/dogma_01_scheda.php . i can spend hours drooling over that

zacster 02-09-05 08:34 PM

I can't think of anything that I would want more than what I just bought, even if money were no object. Maybe I'd get Record instead of Chorus, but I don't think it would matter much to me. I'll eventually get the lighter wheels and pedals for this without changing anything else.

My New Kuota

hi565 02-09-05 08:37 PM

wait, thats record not chorus? get your self a pari of Ksryiums, maybe not lighter, but would look sick.

Surferbruce 02-09-05 08:53 PM

just one?
i'd like a derosa corum or primato
a derosa king
a cervelo p3 fixed gear
a soulcraft cyclocross bike
an 80's steel colnago w/ all campy
a vintage cinelli track bike
and maybe a look or time frame built up superlight for climbing.
i'd be cool for awhile with those...

BigFloppyLlama 02-09-05 09:13 PM

Scott CR1
Record group set with bottle cages
AX Lightness brakes and saddle
Lightweight wheels
Bold Precision skewers
THM Clavicula cranks
Tuned Speedplay X1 pedals
Ritchey WCS Stem
Schmolke bars
Heylight seatpost
And a bunch of somewhat irrelevant other components. Those are the biggies I can think of.

MacMan 02-09-05 09:21 PM

If money were no object, then I'd get a custom carbon frame. A one-of-a-kind edition. This thing would put a stealth fighter to shame.

You did ask :D

2Rodies 02-09-05 09:46 PM

I'd buy the same bike I have right now with the addition of a set of Campy Hyperions and Mavic Cosmic Carbones. The other bike I'd really like is the Pinarello Montello TT bike.

marnan 02-09-05 09:48 PM

A custom Parlee carbon frame, campy record with CT compact crank, zip tubulars, carbon stem/handlebar combo, fizik aliante saddle, keo peddles, unlimited clothing and equipment, heated garage, and a pro bike mechanic to keep it all together. Add on a coach and I am all set. Oh - how about more time also.

wannaride 02-09-05 11:04 PM

Pretty much the components in the bike I just got: Full Campy Record CF/Titanium group with Hollogram SI crank; Fizik Aliante seat; Cinelli Ram integrated stem/handlebar; Mavic Kysium SLs; but in an all carbon monoque frame like maybe a top of the line Kuota.

Jakey 02-09-05 11:17 PM

Mondonico Foco with Record.

Yoshi 02-09-05 11:34 PM

Steel Torelli frame with Record group.

Chucklehead 02-10-05 12:01 AM

this.
