Now I get the Lycra thing!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So OP, did you get regular spandex shorts or padded cycling shorts?

This thread has me ready to give up my sweatpants and jump on some cheapo eBay spandex..

Surely this would be more comfortable than just sweat pants and considering it is actual underwear meant to be worn under another layer I wouldn't have to be self conscious about my flab.. thoughts/comments?

I switch between bibs and shorts but for long rides I'll usually opt for bibs, as they just stay in place better.

You can just wear bike shorts under sweats if you choose to not wear spandex in public. I have a couple of buddies that do that as well.

And yes, 41, I'm working on all of these friends and their fredness.

Wouldn't that leave one overheating in the warmer months?

I got these 2 years back as recommended from the forum. Good quality, relatively cheap, and I think there was even a coupon floating around here somewhere.

Yup...and they don't even realize it.

Tip: Drop your multi-tool in his jersey pocket....some weight will help hold that sucka down.

Funny, my gf prefers them shaved. Also, aeroness is the least important reason to shave.

Roadrash with Chewbacca legs is about the worst thing ever.

I'm skeptical of this claim. If you are crashing that much than aren't you worried that you'll eventually injure yourself bad enough that you can no longer ride a bike?

I think of it like wearing a helmet. I wear one on every ride. However, I hope I never need it.
