Lump in road shoe

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lump in road shoe

So my shoes have recently developed this weird thing where the area where the cleats mount (Speedplay cleats, non-Speedplay specific shoes) has started to push up on the inside which is uncomfortable at best, painful at worst. I think it's the actual metal piece inside the sole that the cleat screws into that is sticking up.

Is there a way I can fix this?

I'm using Cat-1 Gavia Carbon shoes from Performance. There's mounting for the standard 3-bolt as well as a spot for a 2-bolt that moves to match up with one of 3 holes.

Like I said, I don't think it's the screw, but the part inside of the sole that the screw goes into.

That's wack, ask Performance to take them back, that shouldn't be happening.
