Easter Weekend Cycling Ride Reports - Mar 29 - April 1

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

my kid's rowing team had a regatta, so I rode alongside them for about 10 miles and took pictures in the morning on my city bike: https://app.strava.com/activities/46469891 then in the afternoon took the new Domane out for a 40-mile loop: https://app.strava.com/activities/46534048. half century on the day, first time I've done serious distance since tearing my calf muscle after climbing Mt. Washington last summer.

Someone tried to run me over again. 8-10 ft of shoulder where the city paints a bicycle lane, a fog line is the divide. His front wheel was fully in my lane and he was taking more as he past. I don't know how anyone can ride a bike anymore?

So ... how far did you ride? What scenery did you see?

Sunday - more walking, more lifting and moving

Monday - 25-ish km up our old "usual" route.

Just a small update from the Ronde van Vlaanderen. I did the 80km, but had to check out after 50km. Took the shortcut back to Oudenaarde and hit the showers with a total of 65km. It was so incredibly cold. Weather forecast told us we would have a sunny day with a temperature of 8C. Turned out it was 2C, with a virtual temperature of -5C. Wind speeds were 3 Bft instead of 2 Bft, which made it very cold feeling.
