30 Days of Cycling in April?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

30 Days of Cycling in April?

Just curious ... are any of you doing this 30 Days of Cycling in April challenge?

https://minnesota.publicradio.org/dis...-biking-pledge
https://30daysofbiking.com/

I didn't find out about it until April 2, and we took that day off the bicycles, so I was unable to complete this when it had barely started. But nevertheless, Rowan and I have ridden 4 of 5 days in April so far.

I'm in on it and have done the first 4 days. Kind of a fun way to get the season started

I wish! The roads still have ice on them up here and we have about two feet of snow to melt!

I've ridden every day so far without even knowing about the challenge...

My schedule says I have the day off tomorrow (only 1 of 3 days off all month).

Thinking maybe I can get away with riding to work or something (~7 miles 1-way). Hmmm.

398 in a row so far this streak. Another 23 or so should be pretty easy. I won't be sharing my adventures online.

I think I rode 17 days last month and hit 1,600 miles. Doing 30 days would kill me, I'm sure.

Depends on what you're riding for. If the purpose is trying to get people to ride to replace car travel, then maybe it makes some sense.

For recreational, or fitness purposes, it doesn't seem to make sense.

Having to ride every single day is going to take the fun out of it.

And riding everyday is likely to be counterproductive from a fitness/training point of view.

Cycled 7 of 10 days this month ... Rowan and I had a really nice ride tonight after work on our tandem. The last time we rode our tandem was on April 1, 2012 ... just over a year ago!!

I've done 40 days straight before. You need rest days, so that's actually pretty dumb. Which makes it an ideal 41 topic.

Don't think I've had a day off cycling for 8 months. But I do ride for transport and fun - not sport. Don't care about training.

Yup. It just means adding a day a week after all.
