Did I actually get pwned by a truck driver???

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did I actually get pwned by a truck driver???

Today, two-lane winding road, dump truck came up on me and got stuck there. You know how it goes - every time he had a straight run to pass me he was blocked by oncoming traffic. I had nowhere to go.After a half mile of this he got frustrated enough to lay on the horn. After another half mile we came to a light. I pulled into the left turn lane and he pulled up beside me. I was pissed and started to unleash on him, but he beat me to it. The exchange went like this:

Him: 'Get off the ****ing road!'
Me: 'You get off the road!'
Him: 'This is my ****ing job.'
Me: 'This is mine.'
Him:'Bull ****. You're too ****ing fat to be a pro biker.'

Did I actually get pwned by a truck driver?

Agreed. But OP could still either invite a squeeze play or even get off the road for a second. A full mile is a long time to be behind a bike unless the speeds you can hold are at least in the same ballpark as what people drive.

You should have pulled over. There is no sense in losing your life because of p*ssing contest with a truck driver.

Nowhere to pull over. A few gravel driveways, but they weren't good options.

LOLLL !!! great.

To me, "Nowhere to go" means a vertical rock face, not a gravel driveway that might be inconvenient.

It happens.

Sometimes, the best thing is to go ahead and stop in the gravel though you obviously don't want to do this except in unusual circumstances. Someone being stuck as long as he was qualifies. Unless the road is really narrow, you can ride the stripe and wave him through. Even if they have to cross into the oncoming lane, there's usually enough room for traffic going the other way. If people are paying attention, it's totally safe.

Oh, I was on, and right of, the stripe and waiving. No dice - big truck.

**** the truck driver. He's a professional and should act like it....dealing with inconveniences goes with the job of driving a big truck.

You should have told him he was a truck driver.

That would have won.

pwned.

Could have been worse. I got in a wee wee match with someone who called me a self righteous recumbent rider. I had no comeback. I broke down and wept.

Under no circumstance a cyclist should be getting into an argument with someone on a motorized vehicle. You're just out gunned if it "goes down".

5000lbs of steel vs 15lb of asssploding carbon is something you should be thinking about in that situation.
