Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How Much Should I Charge (not walmart bike)

About 4 years ago I purchased a used 1997 Cannondale CAAD3 R500 for 250 bucks. I got my money out of the thing 100 times over. However, I have purchased a new road bike so I'm looking to sell this one. Should I just ask the 250 for it or try to go higher? Everything still looks good, and I really haven't had a any problems with it.

C-list prices have only gone up. Even with 4 years of service to you, it's easily still worth $200+. Just review some ads for similar bikes in your area and price accordingly.

without even looking at it a portland craigslist price would be at least 350. there are a million treks on craigslist but only a few cannondales. people keep them for a reason it seems.

I bought a '99 R300 on CL a few years ago, rode it for 2 years, and ended up selling it for exactly what I paid ($350)... Pretty happy with that.

I wasn't familiar with the model so I looked it up. I would expect to see that listed here for around $300, a little more than many "vintage" Treks that are listed in the $200-$250 range. Mostly because of the STI shifters...

yeah that's whats kinda weird I can't find a lot of CAAD3 R500s to compare the old blue beauty to. I'm just worried I'll sell it to somebody and they won't use it!

I wouldn't waste your time worrying about that. I would think it's worth maybe $300-350 but you can always start a little high and lower the price if nobody responds.
