Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help compare a few bike brands.

Im looking to purchase a new bike this next year. i am 17 years old, i race locally and not too far out of town. I have been saving for this so my price range is $2000 to $2200. I am looking at the treck 5000 as one option and have been reciently looking at the bianchis. I would like a combination of light weight, full carbon fiber and nice components. My ride style is fairly aggressive and im more of a hill kinda guy. please give all ur inputs and opinions.

The Trek 5000 is a great choice. The only negative (if you want to view it that way) is that everyone has a Trek. While it's a very popular brand, it's popularity is well deserved.

How about a Cannondale R2000, made in the USA!

I know you said you'd like full carbon, but have you looked at scandium? Merckx, Salsa, and Felt all make superb scandium bikes with carbon forks and rear stays for about $2000.

You can use Trek's custom paint job option to stand out a bit...

Any of the above would be a good choice.

You just need to go and ride a few and see how you like them and decide from that. I have a trek 2100 (same geometry as the 5000) and I love it. Basically the slowness in the corners I have not really noticed but of course I can not ride a compact frame...

i looked up that Felt F2C thats pretty nice. thats what im lookin for now. yes the price is high for me right now but do you think it can go down maybe 200-300 in the next 1-2 years. i also looked up that R3000 that looks like a nice bike, little pricy, but not a huge fan of cannondale.

but i also wanted to stress hill climbing is what i like, and pretty much if i ride anywhere more than 10 miles theres no way i can hide from the big hills and mountains where i live, and please correct me if im wrong but the Felt F2C is only a 20 speed and not a triple crankset. which is kinda a.....bummer. and the wheels do you think might need upgrading? and the model below it isnt full carbon fiber.
