Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nope. Fully passive. 0 dB, 0 dust. Been thinking about the Streacom FC8 without the optical drive. Can be had for $160, would work even with a Plain Jane 3225, no need for a T variant - equiv Haswell should be a breeze.

Ah, they've come down in price since I last looked; my mistake.

I didn't pay much attention since I want some gaming ability that requires a real graphics card, so full fanless is right out the window.

Dust - whatever. I like tinkering. Much more so than my bike. And my preference for electronics is half the reason I want Di2.

If worried about carrying the BRCA 1 gene a sample of blood( I believe it is blood) is given and tested. This test is over 3000 dollars but tells the person if they carry the gene. If they do they have a lifetime risk of 87% for developing breast cancer and a 64% chance of developing ovarian cancer( the more deadly of the 2). Furthermore as a carrier of this dominant gene, it means their female children have a 50/50 chance of also carrying the BRCA 1 gene.

Uh oh:

"We think the depressed individuals are more likely to be out-of-sync with the regular wake-sleep timing," said Jun Li of the University of Michigan, the lead author of the study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
. . .
"People with depression were not synchronized to the usual solar day in terms of this gene activity. It's as if they were living in a different time zone than the one they died in," he said.

so yesterday I went to visit the irradiation site in pcad's town...who knew he lives near one of the largest irradiation sites in the world. The way the cobalt 60 just glows a soft blue under the water under several feet of concrete is surreal. Like something out of a bond film.

One of my co-workers just rushed home to find his wife (in her upper 30's) unresponsive. He tried cpr and it didn't work.

Not sure what happened, just really sucks.
