25mm tires and superlight riders: Worth it?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

25mm tires and superlight riders: Worth it?

Need some opinions:

I bought a pair of GP4000s 700x25 tires from Wiggle a while ago, got them mounted, and promptly threw the boxes away. Then when I finally got around to putting the wheels on the bike, I found that the clearance on the rear is just too tight for my comfort level (slightly less than a millimeter at it's closest). So that was a bummer. Since I can't send the tires back, my options are to try to sell them on Craigslist or to a friend of mine or keep them for my wife's bike.

The owner of my LBS says that even someone as light as my wife (like 110lbs or something) would notice a smoother ride from the 25s, so I should just keep them for her. Agree/disagree? I certainly don't mind keeping them, but her 23s are barely worn, and she doesn't ride much, so it might be forever before she really NEEDS new tires. It's also worth mentioning that her bike is pretty heavy already, so any small difference in weight between 23s and 25s probably isn't worth worrying about.

Sell them. They will be sold quickly. If she doesn't ride much at all she probably won't care or notice.

Maybe you will get lucky and somebody on this forums will swap you for some 23mm GP4ks.

That was my thought as well.

I don't have access to the marketplace, so if someone wants to, I hope they chime in here

Why not put the 23's from your wife's bike on yours and the 25's on hers?

Certainly another option, but I've ridden that type of tire (Michelin Lithions) before, and wanted to try something different.

Make certain your wife doesn't find out you had a set of tires that would have made her ride more comfortable and you sold them without telling her instead.

She knows. I haven't been served with papers yet, so I think I'm ok.
