WTF is up with clipless pedals?
Have I missed something here?
Why are they called clip less when normal pedals are flat and are not attached to our feet, CLIPLESS ONES CLKIP INTO UR SHOE! am I going mad, or what? Why are they called clipples? Why not call them clip one or clip in? |
Don't get angry.
In the old days, we used what are called toe CLIPS. You also had straps along them and that combo connected your foot to the the pedal. The newer system does not need toe CLIPS. Hence, CLIP-less. |
And while we're at it, why do we dial a phone? Or talk about someone being caught on tape?...

You are not mad. Just new. Or young. Or both. |

Well that that pet peeve explained....cheers.
And yhea I'm new and young. |
Prior to the late '80s, the only choices were plain pedals or pedals with toe clips and straps. Clipless pedals allow for a secure attachment to the pedal without the use of toe clips. It is sometimes confusing to newbees.

Instead of using the phrase "clipping in", maybe we should invent the phrase "cleating in," to maintain the cliplessness of clipless pedals... ;)

* head not but.

The toe clip holds the strap in an open position allowing the shoe to easily slide into the opening while the cleat on the sole of the shoe engages the pedal. The strap is the device that holds the shoe to the pedal.
Wish I still had my Diadora shoes...wooden soles...attach the cleat to the sole with supplied nails...talk about duck foot walking... |
WHY DO WE PARK IN A DRIVEWAY AND DRIVE ON A PARKWAY? WTF

I say, "flailling wildly with one leg while the car behind me honks and flips me off as I try not to fall over in the intersection." Less confusing than clipping in.

Why are they called clipples?... It is not nice to make fun of Clipples. Their lot in life is unfortunate, they deserve some compassion. |

Clipples are people who are unable to clip in. They often fall over.
