I use Cyclometer. I think it's great for a casual rider like myself. Keeps my routes, times, speed and distance and works with my Polar Bluetooth HR sensor. And it also does it via voice updates (I keep my head phone in my right ear) which is helpful, especially when you're comparing your progress on similar routes.
I'm going to upgrade my old Polar bike computer to a Garmin most likely this year. But for now, the iPhone app works fine.

Strava. It's free, no ads, syncs with practically everything, easy to share your stats with friends, upload photos of rides via instagram, tracks all major statistics, segments are fun.

Moved from Strava to Cyclemeter about a year ago and have been very pleased with Cyclemeter. My wife and I recently started using Wahoo RFLKT's and Cyclemeter works really great with those units.

Check out Runkeeper. A lot of folks overlook it because they think it's just for running. I like it in large part because of its web presence and interface ad ability to have and track 'friends'. I briefly tried them all and this is the one I always came back to.

I've been using RunKeeper for running for years. I tried it on the bike but couldn't get a MPH display only minutes per mile. Do you know if I'm missing something or does it lack MPH?

I've been using MayMyRide but am thinking about switching now (een though I signed up for the pro version for a year). I have the Wahoo hardware on my bike, apparently using MMR the Splits only work if you have the Wahoo app on and then import it to MMR.. Thats pretty frustrating (and annoying to find out after riding 50 miles!)
I've tried Strava before and RoadBike Pro - I may have to give one of them a 2nd shot. I like the Wahoo Fitness app but it doesn't have live maps which I do like at times.

The only problem I have run into with the Iphone app (Strava and Cyclemeter) is the battery would die on longer rides (more than four hours). It for me anyway had no chance of lasting for a century ride. Cyclemeter is easier on the battery but also would die. This overuse has led to a poor charge capacity on my phone at this time.
I recently moved to a Garmin.
For 1-3 hour rides it works perfect

The wahoo fitness app is great if you have the wahoo speed/cadence sensor. I need to sell mine or put it on my fixed gear, it's been sitting in the box since getting my garmin.

Thanks to this thread I switched from Mapmyfitness to Strava -- Strava is 10 times better, better gui, faster and more intuitive to use.

It's got MPH, both on the main display screen and your average at the end. It can also announce current and/or average MPH to you at the specified interval. Did you have it set for Cycling and not Running? That's my first guess. I don't run, so I don't know how it acts in a running scenario.
