Coffee Shop's Rude SignTo The Cycling Community
"A coffee shop's rude sign dissing one of the biggest bike races in the U.S. has incensed the cycling community.

Hello
Why close ? The race goes bye and then the police reopen the streets. I have been watching the races on TV.
But we support our local bike groups.

Every coffee shop needs a shtick, this must be theirs. Hopefully the unintended consequence will make them think twice next time the ATOC comes to town with the rich SoCal spandex set in tow.

its definitely not helping their yelp reviews. I can't stand yelp, but there is a large % of people that go to places based on that.

They say they promote cycling, donate to support a bike trail, put up bike racks voluntarily so cyclists can easily get coffee there. They just don't want to be overrun with racers.
I approve this message.
We need more Freds in the world, and fewer racers and wannabe racers.
Riding a bike is supposed to be fun.

Even if you remove the subject of their angst, it is not a place I would want to patronize just based on attitude. Shunning any single demographic is dangerous when the commodity you peddle is available EVERYWHERE.

This reminds me of every jackwagon who writes into the local paper complaining about bikes on the road. "I used to be a biker, but..."

Not smart to engage in editorializing on a sign like that. It's likely to offend some local customers.
The sign says "unsafe for customers or staff." I am curious what their specific beef is with the TOC.

Well, it's his business. If he wants to lose out on a big day, and tick off the local cyclists, let him suffer the consequences.

Above. He can do as he likes and cyclists can decide to shop, or not. I wouldn't.

Unreal, what an idiot. I would be open all day for that event, probably rake in a lot more money than your average day.
