2012 Trek Madone 5.5 Seat Tube Damage Update

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2012 Trek Madone 5.5 Seat Tube Damage Update

So after a week of going back to the bike store and contacting Trek, we've determined the seat tube is in fact cracked. I posted a thread last week but some people started a war of bike materials carbon/steel/aluminum lol. so no bashing or negativity from any one please.
here are some pics of inside the sea tube with a borescope
Trek says to go back to my LBS tomorrow and they'll start a claim number process thing

Click the link for a video of the bike. The bore scope thing is pretty sweet

remember, no bashing

The bore scope is sweet.

We had the neighboring dentist shoot x-rays of a suspect frame, but they were pretty inconclusive.

At least when I cracked the seatpost of my TCR, it was just a $70 seatpost. I've got a Madone 5.5 now, too. So far, nothing's been cracked.

Did you use a Campy, Shimano, SRAM, or cheapo knock off bore scope? What was the bore scope made of? I hear that is a batch of suspect counterfeit borescopes out there right now. Made in Fredistan out of the cut off legs of jeans and pathchouli oil.

I myself will only use a Park BS-01 Shimano specific borescope, with carbon fiber inserts.
