Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First Road Bike: Should I Buy Used LeMond Reno 2006 ?

Hello all,

I've been into MTB for some time, but I'd really like to get a road bike lately. Some of my friends bought roadies already and I still want to hang out with them, and it seems more fun riding greater distances However I'm on a REALLY tight budget here as I'm rebuilding my home and stuff, but on the other hand I REALLY want to start expanding my horizon this season with a road bike!

So I'm being offered a used LeMond Reno 2006. They guy sells it for around 350-400$. Do you think it's worth it?

1. If I could bring down the price more, what price would be a bargain to ask?
2. From the attached pictures, what frame size do you think this is?
3. Do you think I can find replacement parts (groupsets) for this frame? Will new groupsets fit that frame from 2006 ?

Maybe I could also save for a new bike with Tiagra, but I shall miss the summer. And I really don't want to ride only MTB this summer.

Any advice on this sale would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's hard to say what the bike is worth without a close inspection. These are nice bikes and good companions on rides. Seems a bit steep for an aluminum machine.

The frame size looks like ~53 cm to me.
I'm sure you will be able to find all sorts of parts for this frame.

Also, Lemonds seem best for those with longer torsos or like to stretch out their torso and get low.
