Need help upgrading my computer

Hello all,

For the past year I've been using a Cateye Strada wireless CC-RD300W and thus far it served me well.

As I'm now going from a mtb to a road bike, I'd like to upgrade the computer to something with better readability (larger characters/size), and lighting for commuting night rides. I know I'm not supposed to be looking at a computer screen too much while riding in the dark (which may be probably why this computer has no back lighting?), but I'd still like the option for quickly overseeing the clock, and things like that. If the computer would have more features that this particular Strada, that would be a plus I guess. I don't need GPS or anything like that on it, though.

Thanks very much for your suggestions! :)

You might want to try a post in the Electronics forum, http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdispl...ng-amp-Gadgets for an answer to your needs. I personally use a Cannondale 300 level wireless computer. No cadence but it has all the usual features that roadies like and its simple to use. Mine has been great with no problems from the rough roads I have to use in out rural area. Lighting I only have blinking daytime "Please see me, don't run over me" lights. Best of luck with your move to road bikes.

Ah thanks! Didn't realize I was in the wrong section for the question. Will check it out ;)

Nothing wrong with asking here, I just thought that the Electronics forum might have a few more "experts" there. My Cannondale I mentioned does all the basics and has a temperature feature to boot. It can be set p for two bikes with the purchase of a second sending sensor and it will track both bike's data. For ~60.00 it is find for me, very reliable and one fritzed a while ago, the dealer handed me a new one and apologized for the trouble I had. Amazon.com has a huge selection of the different computers for bikes at every level imaginable. Happy hunting.

I just got a Garmin 800 on a great deal through Clevertraining.com

I've been reading about the Garmin, but it seems overkill for me, since I never really leave town (or surroundings known to me)..

came in here thinking you wanted to upgrade your home PC. I know much more about those than I do bikes.

Haha my bad, coincidentally though, I was about to make an upgrade to my PC (a video card and yet another hard drive) when, -courtesy of a thief- I now ended up getting a road bike instead, and basically trying to upgrade my whole ride kit while at it :)
