Yeah, the Wilsons are... yeah. They do some great things, but they're not for everyone. Their Beryllium tweeter diaphragms are made by Focal, which is a brand I worked with quite a bit. Lively top end and Focal would run the crossovers pretty low with 'em - I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson was doing something similar.

Oh, and yes, the weather today was nice and reminded me how much my lungs love humid air.

It was Eric I talked to. I suspect the Wilsons weren't well-served by the recording. It was Genesis' Trick of the Tail which I think has suffered a bit in recent remastering.

Meanwhile, the 1.7s didn't do anything for me that the MG12s don't, but the 3.7s were on a whole other level. Listened to some other box speakers and... meh. The only box speakers I've heard recently that I've really liked are my friend's B&W 804s.

Speaking of whom, was The Girl proud of your performance?

Actually, it was a relay team, not a girl. I went looking to figure that out. No, not beaten by a girl; beat the fastest one by three minutes or so. And yes, she was. I'm down now because something has taken over my body and it's upsetting me. Makes me want to vomit, honestly.

That's even better! The results, I mean.

I'm really happy for you Hummer. Putting aside thefeet and legs, you're reaping the benefits of some training, and it looks like you've hooked up with a nice lady.

The big question is: Can I make 10,000 posts by the end of June?

Pfft, you can do it by 9pm (CDT) if you try hard.

You won't make many friends in the process, though.

Thanks. Yes, life is going well overall. I do need to get on a proper tri bike and find some way to get a quicker run in, because I've been stagnant this year compared to last. I'm 30, though, so I don't know if that's the trouble.

I'd love to talk to her, but that's the longest we've been together so far and I want to give her some space. Just feeling bothered by the chiggers. Watching Transformers: Dark of the Moon with my cat. Thinking about ordering a pizza.

Bah Humbug 06-22-13 06:48 PM

Pizza ordered. These movies always make me really want a car that can be my best friend. McLaren F1. Or maybe F40. Something like that.

Or, if I'm feeling in a different mood, SVT Raptor.

RollCNY 06-22-13 06:55 PM

Hummer, the hot water on the itchies won't work with a hot towel, as it will be either hot enough to scald, or not hot enough to carry heat. Do it in the shower, and gradually turn the temp up until you can barely stand it, beyond what a normal cleaning temp is. Then stand in it for 60-90 secs. Honestly, I have done this with sunburn for 25+ years and it works very well.

The F40 was, in my opinion, the best looking car Ferrari has made. In fact, best looking car ever.

Will it work on chiggers? I thought it was more of a poison ivy sort of thing.

I'm younger than you, and in terms of Ferraris, I really like the 360 the best. The 430 was ugly, and the 458 is an improvement but not to the level of the 360. The F50 looks more modern than the F40, but it's my understanding that it drives worse. The Enzo... it's impressive, and I don't find it as ugly as some, but it lacks timelessness.

The heat does a couple things - a lot of bug bites itch because of... a reaction to chems that are left behind when they bite. Often, these chems break down with heat. Even if they don't (and mosquito bites don't), the heat does something to the histamines causing the itch, providing up to a day of relief even if the chems are still present.

Thanks. I'll try later tonight. I still wish I could just kill them like they deserve. Like with that super-cold flash-freeze ice bath thing I saw about. Not that I have one. I just want them dead. They offend me.

I don't think that you're going to like too many dynamic speakers. AP may have the $5k floorstanding Sonus Faber (can't recall the model name right now) and that would be on my short list for you to listen to, but I can't think of anything else is the area that might fit the bill. I might have a higher opinion of the 804, but I've worked with a lot of outstanding $5 - $10k speakers for it to hold much interest. I think that you'd love my speakers (DeVore Fidelity), but I think that his nearest dealer is in CO.

I think I like GarminConnect better than TrainingPeaks, but I have no idea why GC is showing those weird spikes on my run pace. Tpks isn't.

I'm not going to register for it, of course.

So, since I've never run in to chiggers myself, I looked 'em up. In the wiki, it's mentioned that heat may help reduce itching - they recommend a hair dryer or shower with a wand head. Later, they say that a bath may be very uncomfortable and make itching worse, so who the hell knows... Oh, if you're really feeling vengeful, they say that they can be seen with a 10 magnifier and that you can remove them with fine tweezers.

Ok, it's not pcad's ankle, but it's awfully unpleasant.

The chiggers are done with you and are not on you. You might want to wash what you were wearing. Looks like they got into your shoes. Along with the hot water try Calamine lotion and Benadryl to control itching.
