What's wrong with just plain old water? How long are your rides? How hot is it?

i do use plain water but my Dr said my pottasium level is low....suggested adding some to my diet so I figured I don lie bananas so ...why not add it o the water im already drinking....

Nun tablets should fulfill that requirement without all the other additives.

Add some "Lite" salt to your drink. It has potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride.
And a dash of sugar and some lemon juice.

Dried figs work

I use the Camelback tablets. Forgot what they're called, but they have almost no calories and the berry flavor tastes great.

And of course there's always Brawndo...... ; - )

Because adding something to your diet doesn't mean it has to be added to your water bottle.

Potatoes are high in potassium as are white beans and leafy greens. No need to add these to your water to enjoy the benefit.

Hammer Nutrition Heed ... low in calories, high in electrolytes .... works well for me.

contango 06-02-13 01:39 PM

I recently discovered these:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=42650

The electrolytes include sodium, magnesium and potassium. If you don't want any sodium in your mixture you may be able to find food quality potassium chloride or potassium bicarbonate. Potassium bicarbonate will probably make the water taste unpleasant (I used to drink diluted sodium bicarb to ease indigestion and it tasted foul but did the job). Or you can look for foods high in potassium that you enjoy eating. I quite like bananas so never looked far beyond there, I think nuts are usually pretty good for minerals but they are high in calories as well.

Potatoes with the skin on are high in potassium, sadly so many people just peel them.

Brawndo, it's got what plants crave.

Orange juice has more potassium than bananas. Drink some after you get home from a ride.

Plants want water, from the toilet.

I know, I can talk to plants.

I have been using those forever now. I got free samples from Probikekit and have stuck with them since. They taste better than Nuun tablets, in my view. I just stick one tablet in a tiny reclosable bag to mix in my water bottle midway thru my typical 65 mile ride.

Baked (NOT wrapped in foil), brushed with olive oil and generous salt & pepper - mmmmm.
