Compact geometry for Long legs/Short torso

Hey Everyone,

So I've been struggling to find a steel road bike with a short top tube (relative to seat tube) to accomidate my long legs and short torso. I have been doing some calculations, and it seems like a Soma Smoothie in 58 might do the trick...

I know that in general, people say that compact frames are good for people with the exact oposite body type, but here are my thoughts:
  • With a standard framed bike, I would generally end up with a 56, with a good amount of seat post showing. This essentially puts the bars lower and further away.
  • With a compact frame like the soma smoothie, I can go to a 58 (57 effective TT and 56 actual TT) frame which should essentially keep me a bit lower and closer to the bars.
  • The smoothie appears to be a decently tall bike already, and sizing up from a 56 to a 58 appears to make it somewhat taller.

Can anyone forsee any issues with this logic? I tried searching, but the search function isn't working on bikeforums, and google didn't find very much.

For the record, I'm 5'8" ish with a 34.5 inseam... luckily I have long arms as well.
