Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The icon pro is great so far. Haven't got to ride much... Work, kids, dinner... So far I've noticed a smoother ride than with my old schwinn super sport. The carbon fork and seat post I guess are responsible for that. It has the same geometry as the xenith bikes, if you could find one of those to test it may give you an idea of how it is. As far as looks, fit and finish, and overall impression, I was blown away when I saw it/rode for the first time. The owner of the shop was kind of pushing a 2012 xenith endura sport (for the same $$,had to order either to get a 58), but he was blown away by the icon too. (This is the first one he's sold) said he would get one, if I liked it, it was mine, if I didn't like it, he would put it on the floor and get something else.
It defiantly begs to be ridden hard. Very stiff when you jump on the pedals. Turns in nice and quick but stays rock solid stable in a hard corner. I like it a lot.

I think you need to buy the 58cm CAAD 10 5 I'm about to list.

Have you asked this in the 250 page Cult of CAAD?

I agree, Jamis riders should get together and ride. Anyone from the NYC area here?
Me and my Comp moved out of Brooklyn last summer.

That's it. You just convinced me with your hawt rig to go white tape again. Those wheels really make that bike pop. Very Rick Nielsen. And kudos for the strict adherence to BF photo etiquette.

Aaah, that sucks. We could've been riding buddies with matching bikes in Brooklyn.

Anyway, which 3T stem is that and how did you get it in blue?

It's the Garmin Team issue - I'm not sure if you can find them any more. I was lucky enough to get both the stem and bars in Garmin Team (looked high and low for a Garmin Team Doric seat post, but no dice) -

(excuse the messy wiring of the ol' PTap)

That's a pity, looks like I might have to search real hard for it. Been trying real hard to find a stem that would match the bike. Is that the Garmin Team version of the ARX stem, carbon or aluminum? Mind telling me where did you find yours? At least that'll give me some kind of lead.

AL with Ti bolts. I got mine on RealCyclist (Backcountry), but they were also available at PBK for a while. I recently saw something on facebook about blue 3T face plates - if nothing else, you could get the black/white ARX Pro (it just doesn't have the Ti bolts, I think) and get the blue face plate.

Edited to add: actually, 3T is also offering a 'Stealth' stem - that would probably work nicely, too.

I got a 2012 Quest. I've been riding it about a year. Very comfortable bike. I also like the old school steel look.

Yeah, being Xenith is not your entry level bike, but people here seem to have them...it's def a bike you can grow into and have for years and years.

xenith race vs xenith endura

Sweet.
I have been riding a 2011 Quest (105) for over to years now. I have done a couple of centuries on it including Seattle to Vancouver B.C. twice and STP (2 days) once. I am doing STP in one day and hoping to do it on a new bike. I am between the Xenith Race or the Xenith Endura Elite....after considering the Icon Elite decided to go carbon for the more comfortable ride quality. Any suggestions between the two? Race vs Endura? It looks like the Endura has a much comfortable geo, but maybe the Race sitting position can be tweaked with a higher stem?

Also, own a Jamis Durango (from the late 90s).

Thank you!

In addition to more relaxed geometry, the Endura will also take wider tires (more comfy) and has bosses for rack/fenders.
