HELP! First road bike - value?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

HELP! First road bike - value?

Hi Everyone,

I'm wanting to purchase my first road bike but the options are endless. I'm wanting to purchase something inexpensive as I don't think I'll be taking it around too much, just to parks and around the street occasionally.

I've looked at a few on kijiji (I'm located in GTA) and just wanted some assistance as I couldn't really find much information on the threads.

Is this worth $300? That's what they're willing to sell for:

Any information is appreciated!

$300 is still a bit high for an older, midlevel bike

Where is GTA ?

Greater Toronto Area?

And yes, that's too much by about twice at least.

Based on the original $390 price, the seller may be someone that thinks a bike is "vintage" just because it's old ....... 99% of the old bikes I see for sale on Craigs list are just old bikes..... usually listed at twice what they're worth.
