Do you pack "heat" while cycling?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do you pack "heat" while cycling?

What do you pack, does it fit in your back jersey pocket, or do you have a holster mount under the seat, or mounted as a gun emplacement on top of the stem, (does it swivel/have fore and aft adjustment, allow for elevation changes etc). Why do you pack it, for self defence against aggressive drivers, wild animals, or other cyclists you meet while riding? (I fit in the latter, I have had multiple close run in's with cyclists ever since moving back into the Boston area. i have a permit to carry and small caliber arms are adequate for my uses.

Why are some members of BF obsessed with packing heat while cycling?

My local gun smith recommended that I exchange my 9mm for something that was a bit more spicier, with the ability to throw more heat on adversaries, higher rate of fire, with a higher muzzle velocity, and a larger magazine, but I'm also concerned about the larger capacity magazine weighing down my jersey pockets. Gotta have space for the gu and honey stinger waffles (yes I carry BOTH, I'm never without my honey stinger waffles, gu peanut butter gels, and my lil' friend) I liken the caliber debate on gun forums to the 23 or 25c tires debate on bikeforums.

Well dang it you need to carry the old M1911 Army issue drop a drunken moose on PCP type of weapon. And if you get caught in a rainstorm the gun won't care. Those things are indestructable.

Still, it seems like literal overkill for dropping other cyclists. The cycling fights on the Interwebs look like they could be settled just by using harsh language.

Find a gun made principally of carbon fiber, then you'll be golden!

You would think that, but Boston is full of angry suburban hipsters riding fixies running zipp 808's and quacky power meters, and old tough Irishman with chips on their shoulders.

****: I think this thread has value, carbon fiber construction could be the answer for a gun that is both light, and strong, but is it best route for those on a budget? Wouldn't I be better off going with a carbon wrap over aluminum construction instead? Also, would the carbon fiber catastrophically fail in the event of a collision, in the battlefield of the streets of Boston, I need to be back up and running after a crash, and spending the time looking over my lil' friend could cost me life and limb.

Also, another issue is the finish of the various components: Do i want a 12k or 20k weave, and would the additional reinforcement be noticeable in a "sprint" (rapid discharge off all ammunition)?

For the safety, should I go with a matte clearcoat finish, or a semi-gloss, and in torrential rainfall conditions, would I be able to have enough grip so my gun doesn't hydroplane right out of my hands. And smack n' crack the visor of my giro air attack.

Yes. Not just when cycling - all the time. I choose not to be a victim if I can prevent it. The elderly, of which I'm one, have been routinely targeted here in Baton Rouge by thugs. The thugs view us as easier targets. They know we're not as formidable as we once were and we are home in the middle of the day in an almost empty neighborhood. It's a sad truth in today's world.
