Trek 1500?

I really want a bike other than my commuter to do races on. Has anyone had good luck on this bike in the past? I was also wondering what the weight of the complete bike is. Thanks for any comments

my dad has this bike and really likes it. The fit wasn't perfect for me, but everything on the bike works fine. It weighs in at around 20 pounds. My dads was about 20 and a half, but that's with bottle cages and some stuffs...
Of course, the most important thing is fit, make sure you're comfortable on the bike..

Thanks. The fit is great, I just took one of the bikes in our shop out for 5 miles today. If the bike is around 20 lbs like you said then that is great (I was hoping for the rider/bike combination to be around 150 lbs, I weigh 135). Thanks again for the input.

maybe with a little modification?

My wife rides this model and loves it. I think it's a little heavy for a racer but if you can get it going at a good clip, more power to ya.

I believe this bike is available only as a triple chain ring if that matters to you.

I have an '05 1500 (56cm) for a road bike and it's great. With a longer stem it fits me like a glove. It's probably not the model for some serious racing. The weight is right around 20lbs. I'm not about to spend more money on a lighter bike when I can still loose a few pounds by riding it a bit more.

If you're just about all lean (sounds like you might be) and plan on doing a load of racing you might want to go with a lighter frame, but for the components I doubt you'll find anything else near it at that price point.
