Nice! What wheels did you have before? Same tires? Do you notice any difference in the ride/feel/response? I'm considering those same wheels to replace the Fulcrum 6's on my Roubaix. Thanks.

Just pulled off the OE Bontrager Race and Bontrager tires. I'll take it out in the morning for the first real ride. What I can already tell is better balance, and the spin down time is SUBSTANTIALLY longer on the stand. The bearings on the front are quite a bit quieter as well. I'll update on the ride tomorrow.

The whole bike looks awesome. I keep reading good things about the Domane and I really want one but I just bought my Madone. What part of NE are you from? If you don't mind me asking.

Nice set up.. Wheels look good. I was looking at those replacements for the Mavic Kysiriums I have on my Trek 5900. Your feedback will be very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

Hub noisy as hell. A little creaky under load. I wanted a wider rim for the 25's. I wanted a little deeper section without getting too carried away. I weigh about 185 and I wanted a more bomb proof wheel for my daily rides.
I'll keep the Race wheels for spares, they aren't bad enough to toss by any means.

I'm from the Grand Island area but I live in Kansas now. I don't see many people from Nebraska on here. I hope the bike rides as good as it looks.

1. The wheels are definitely stiffer axially as well as laterally. I did purchase the high spoke count option which combined with the deeper section is what I expected.
2. They are much quieter than the Race OE wheels. I mean, really quiet.
3. Engagement in the rear hub is better than the OE Race setup. No slamming and popping. Instant smooth engagement.
4. I didn't buy these to be light, I was more interested in good long term durability. Having said that, the increased stiffness certainly makes a difference on a climb. I only had a couple of short climbs this morning on the order of 4% with a short section of 8% and not really a good test, but they are responsive and it didn't feel like I was loosing any power. My time up the hill was slightly better than my average, but we are only talking about a few Seconds. Not enough to draw conclusions.
5. Definite aero benefit, small but a measurable improvement in a timed 5 mile section.
6. The wider section is really nice. The tire winds up about .08" wider on a 700-25 than the Race rims which really smooths out the ride and has a bigger impact on handling than I expected. Very confidence inspiring. The front end tracks quite a bit better, but maintains nimbleness. I'm not sure how that happens, but certainly seems to be real.
Overall, I'm really pleased so far.

It takes controlled lab tests to measure the equivalent of a 60 second improvement over a 40k TT between 32 spoke wheels with box section rims and brand name deep section carbon rimmed wheels with aero spokes.
Unless their is something badly wrong with your Bontragers asserting that there was a noticeable aero benefit with a single run of 5 miles as the comparison is not possible.

I like new wheels as much as the next guy, but I have to question this.

Yeah probably wishful thinking. Not what I bought them for, but still fun to think so. They did handle the crosswind better for whatever reason which probably accounts for the perception if nothing else. That surprised me given the deeper section. I do wonder if it is the stability of the wider rims... I don't know. There is a discernable improvement in handling.

They look great and I'm sure they ride even better. Like you I love the Domane, My last set of Bontrager wheels were perfectly good but similarly opted for a different build when I went to the Domane.
enjoy!
