Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did not enjoy this...

Snapping the spindle was ok, but the flying over the handlebars a second later kinda sucked. Fortunately, I landed on a grassy median.

Ooh! That sucks. What kind of pedal? You could've also ended up with a bad laceration from that broken off spindle. Glad you're ok!

Be honest...you're really just surreptitiously trying to show us all how powerful you are.

That happened to a friend of mine, and the resulting crash really jacked him up, as in unable to ride until months of post op rehab. You're very lucky, in a sense.

Look delta, steel spindle. Probably 10 years old. I suspect I had a crack from some past, perhaps long ago, mishap, that finally gave way.

Over the bars and onto the grass sure beats landing on the top tube or stem, at least my son tells me this is so.

Dang your lucky you didn't land on the top bar with your bojangles breaking the fall. I would complain to the manufacturer and see if they would send you a new set. Unless if they have a warning in the manual stating not to use them after a certain amount of time.

I think I still have a couple of pair of the original Look pedals around. They probably won't break for a few thousand more miles. Shall I send them along?
