Source for live streaming of Tour de France on iPad, or Mac?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Source for live streaming of Tour de France on iPad, or Mac?

Hi everyone,

I watched the Tour of California via the official "Tour Tracker," which I loved - saw it live, with windows tracking the peloton's progress and the places of notable riders.

Anything similar offered for the Tour de France? I don't have cable, so this is a bit "critical" for me

NBC says Tour de France mobile apps are "coming soon". That better be really soon. http://tourdefrance.nbcsports.com/

Main problem with Apple Ipad is that it will not play flash video that is used for most live streams these days so the cure for that is download the app Puffin browser it will let you watch everything that you cannot watch with Safari.
Now you have several places you can use to watch the Tour.
I use http://livetv.ru/en/ to watch many sports not just cycling as well as any of the others that broadcast livetv used popup but once you learn to ignore them its great, a trick I found is once your window pops up make it full screen and it bypasses the junk adds on the screen.

They've had it in past years. I would be surprised if it isn't available by the 29th.

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!! Just got the word that CyclingNews has a TdF Tour Tracker EXACTLY like the one for ToC!!! Same format, same company, etc.!!! For anyone interested, here's the link - about the middle of the article are hyperlinks for the iTunes and GooglePlay apps.

I just downloaded the app, so I am ready to go!!!

Oops! Sorry rangerdavid, here's the link ...

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cycl...e-tracking-app

About mid-article, there are hyperlinks for iTunes and GooglePlay. Regarding whether it will have live video streaming, it's hard to tell - CyclingNews on Facebook says no, but article states, From live video to GPS tracking, you can be part of the race action no matter where you are." I think I also saw on their feed that they'll archive prior stage broadcasts? That will work for those of us uninterested in getting up at 1:00 a.m. to watch it live and would rather just catch the re-broadcast at a decent hour

Thing is, the buttons along the bottom look exactly like the Tour of CA Tour Tracker, which allowed me to watch live video streaming - and it's the same app company here. So we will see!

I read the description on Google Play, it appears that the video is "Video previews of each stage". It, on the surface, does not appear to be an app which will allow constant, live streaming of each stage (at no charge). Granted, it does appear to be a great app for tracking who is doing what during the stage via chat and live text commentary. Most certainly better than nothing though!!! I do wonder if there will be a streaming page online though. I vaguely recall that I was able to stream the TdF a few years ago online, but I can't recall where.

I have had pretty good luck with steephill.tv though in the past, but I'm pretty sure you need flash to view that, which I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) is something that is not possible on the iPad. I haven't heard about the link JTGraphics posted about, but I will also check it out.

johnny99, many thanks for the link! Now I can watch live video on my Mac desktop. It's $30 well-spent! As for the mobile app ... yes, I have high hopes. I liked watching the ToC on my iPad (and if NBC requires Flash, I suppose I can watch it on my Kindle Fire).

Upon further research, everyone here is correct - the CyclingNews Tour Tracker does not offer live video streaming, just live text. So, this Tour Tracker isn't exactly the same as the ToC Tour Tracker.

And now we all wait for Corsica ...

Anyone know if the NBC iPhone/iPad app (which is now finally available) is full screen on an iPad? It says it's optimized for iPhone 5, so not sure.

Also, did anyone with an iPad use the web streaming package (non app) last year? Not sure if they use flash or something else that wouldn't work on an iPad.

$29.99 for the entire tour or $4.99 per stage.
And the price drops as the tour progresses.
I buy it every year just so I can stream it live while I"m at work.

It's the principle. I pay them for electronic access; I should be able to choose what device I access it through, tv, computer, tablet, phone.

so, even with a valid tv subscription to nbcsn, there's no way for them to verify your patronage and give you free streaming from mobile devices? i remember the olympics had it all sorted out...
