mysterious '70s carbon road frame..what ya think?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I found this frame for sale, but I don't know too much about it and apparently, neither does the seller. All I know is that its from the '70s. The front derailler on it is a campy (although I'd probably make the bike a fixed anyway) so maybe it is pretty good quality frame. I wouldn't be racing or anything, just riding to class/around the city/ touring west philly. What do you guys think about it? I won't spend too much money on it, but if its a hunk of junk, I dont want to spend anything on it. Any input would be appreciated. Here are the pics.

Are you sure its from the 70s? I could be wrong, but I thought carbon tech was introduced for Lemond's 86 assault on le Tour. Either way, I'm sure there are enough reasons to resist the temptation. Those early carbon frames had bonding problems. If its cheap, it would make a cool fixie, but I wouldn't pay much until you find out more about that frame.

Early carbon frames were problomatic. They learned alot over the years. I don't know if I would buy a frame from the early part of the learning curve.

I kind of thought there were bonding issues with the early frames. I might still just buy it if I can get it cheap enough. How bad was it? Is it like im gonna start pedalling away from a light and the rear triangle falls off or what? The bike would get use, but as I have 3 other bikes also, it wouldnt get tons and tons of hard use.

i was thinking Vitus too. if there was a close-up of the dropouts, we'd probably know for sure. i think vitus had their logo on them...at least they did with their steel frames.

One of the only frame failures I've personally seen was a bonded carbon frame in the early 80s. The head tube came off of the frame tubes during the final sprint of a Cat 1 criterium. Not pretty.
