Riding all up on someone on a tandem (and exploding carbon wheels)

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They were having trouble with that wheel the whole time.

Discs are really hard to make. These weren't branded. I wonder where they were from...

From the audio, it sounded as if a tire flating was the catalyst. If that were the case, no big surprise.

That and why they didn't unclip and bail out.

That. Was. Awesome.

If Wile E. Coyote ever trashed a carbon wheel it would look like that.

Everytime I'm on RAGBRAI and get passed by a tandem going downhill @ 50 mph I think of that happening. 400 lbs of people and bicycle hitting the pavement at that speed in spandex is horror movie bad.
