Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Either that or a guy with a bike.

Congrats on the new bike, it looks like you got a pretty good deal.

If that fits properly then I'd say that's a steal (It's used I'm assuming).

Oh and I have a fixed gear that I've been using for the everyday commute, (just so your track bike still get some attention).

hhhmmmmm.... that is a pretty sweet looking bike. Because the bike is so nice, I say you get a waiver, and just having the bike makes you a "roadie". But please tell us: How does it ride??

Cool bike.

Track riding....I'd love to try that one of these days. I'm not much of a sprinter, but it looks like fun.

well I already eat bugs, shave my legs and ride a bike everyday so getting gears might mean I'm halfway there. The roadie comment was in jest, but I don't doubt that I'll become obessessed with that too. It rides like a dream, I've never been on a road bike but it's insanely comfortable and quiet which feels good. I just bought it two hours ago and it's too cold in Boston to really take it out for too long, but the first nice day we have I'm going to have to hit the minute man or something similar.

Nice bike.
Great deal.
Congratulations.
It'll be the kilometers that make you a roadie.

Why is it that New England winters always seem to get colder and snowier as Spring approaches? I'm up on the North Shore. I have some routes I want to travel (whenever the f**k) it stops snowing up here. As you're probably aware, there's a bunch of clubs in the Boston area as well. I need to get some solo and base miles under my belt before even thinking about joining a club. If you're looking for good eastern Massachusetts rides with accurate directions, take a look at Howard Stone's book, "Short Bike Rides in Eastern Massachusetts". It's at most bike stores or pretty cheap on Amazon. I rode the "Minuteman" loop a few weeks back (when we hit a miraculous 50 degrees) through Concord and Carlisle and it was a sweet ride.

the glory of craigslist, the guy told me he would also mail me a box of other gear including a helmet and assorted cycling gear. I just took this bike out for another ride and I can't get enough of it, I think I'm really going to like this road bike thing.
