I don't care if the OP rides them or not, and apparently neither does he. One thing for sure, they can't asplode if they stay in the box. Keep the world safe for democracy that way (except Egypt of course)....

This is one of the dumbest ideas ever, i.e., that the quality of bicycle gear should correlate to the ability of the cyclist. Should stylish clothing be reserved for fashion models? Should fine dining be reserved for chefs? You get the point. My view is: don't think about whether [fill in high-cost bike gear item here] makes you as fast as the local Strava king, just think about whether it improves your cycling experience. E.g., does it make you faster than you were without that item (assuming speed is what you're after)?

(And no, I don't own carbon wheels, and I got my current #1 bike used on Ebay, so I'm not justifying my own purchases. :thumb:)

And, yet, you're leaving it open. As if it has anywhere to go but down.

Oh, and whom do I see about whether I qualify for my Rails? And is the critical factor the price, depth, or aero savings of the wheels in question? Inquiring minds want to know.

Not really.

What if you don't wear the kit? Or what if you wear the kit on the $1,000 bike. Sounds to me like it's the pro kit you have problems with so this might be the wrong thread for you.

Plus, it would be hilarious to see pictures of your Roadeo with CF wheels on a Rivendell forum.

It would be. I was thinking Rolf wheels and electronic shifting would be cool. Only have the money for Rolfs though.

Is this "I don't deserve good equipment" stupidity an epidemic? Some diabolical virus going around among cyclists> First @thehammerdog and now this doofus. Maybe it is an invasion of the brain snatchers. OP, grow a pair. You like. You can afford. You buy. You ride. How does it get harder than that? Your bike, your choice. This about your enjoyment, your pleasure. What does it have to do with anyone else?

I just built a new carbon tubular so I can get dropped in my next race.
