Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Would you buy a 2006 Trek 2200 ?

I've gotten back into biking about a month or so ago. The girlfriend and I bought Trek comfort hybrids (Verve 3). I enjoy riding with her but I'm looking to buy a used road bike to get out on my own a bit. ( I rode 30+ miles a day years ago) I found a VERY Clean 2006 Trek 2200 appx 9000 miles on it with full Ultegra components for $600.00. Any reason why I shouldn't buy it ? Such as frame issues at it's age / mileage providing it's a good fit.

Thanks

I'd be more comfortable at $500. I can't tell from this if it's aluminum or carbon:

At that age and mileage you're probably looking at replacing the chain, BB, and brake pads if they haven't been already.

I have a 2003 aluminum 2200 that I recently upgraded from 9 speed 105/Ultegra to full 10 speed Ultegra. Even after a bad wreck 2 years ago the old components still had plenty of life left in them...I just had a bad case of "ooohh...shiny".
