Finally Bought New Bike/Scott CR1 Elite

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Finally Bought New Bike/Scott CR1 Elite

After nearly a decade of riding my first road bike, a 2003 Lemond Alpe D Huez, I finally pulled the trigger on a new Scott CR1 Elite. I would have stuck it out with the Lemond, but after eight years it seemed like everything was breaking little by little. I finally got tired of not having a bike on days it was in the shop or having it mess up on me in the middle of the ride. I will keep it for bad weather and trainer in the winter.
I rode it for a hilly 40 mile ride today. I will review the Scott, but keep in mind I am comparing it to my old bike. One of my favorite things was simply going from a triple to a double. The SRAM shifting was a huge improvement over my Lemond. It is also almost five pounds lighter than my Lemond, which did seem to make some of the more difficult climbs a little easier. I will say the double did make one of our 22% climbs a bit more difficult, but I still love the double. I debated going with the Pinarello ROKH, but it 4100, whereas I got the Scott for 2550. I loved staying way below my original budget, but I feel I have all of the bike I need.

Without pics, please refer to it as the "alleged" bicycle.
