Pump, Patch, or CO2? What do you carry?
 

My essential cargo includes a multi-tool with tire levers, 1 spare tube, and a Topeak dual action mini pump on the down tube. however, I've been considering ditching the pump for CO2 and a patch kit. The pump is just heavy and ungainly and ***** to pump a full tire, and a small patch kit and a couple of CO2 cartriges would fit nicely into the seat bag. I figure the odds of getting more than 2 flats on a ride is pretty slim, so 2-3 cartriges would be plenty. Plus, some mulittools now incorporate an inflator, which is even more convenient.

Any input on what you carry and your thoughts???

Pump & 2 tubes. I'd rather do the patching when I'm back home.

2 spare tubes, CO2, rolled duct tape(for use as a boot for tires with long cuts) around tire lever and multi-tool.

But while I'm here - two tubes and two CO2.

Oh, and my tubes are in a Ziploc bag with talcum powder and a cotton ball (to find the not obvious sharp).

Spare tube, levers, CO2. I probably should take off the Lezyne Road Drive because it just doesn't pump up 32c all that well. I'll carry a pump when I take it touring. I do have some glueless patches, in case I need to fix a flat for a friend who rides mountain bikes with me on the weekends.

Same here, but I also carry a patch kit, just in case. Could never get a pump to give me 110 psi, but always enough to get me back home.

A lot of my rides are commuting to work (30 miles each way).

Tire boots
Road ID (in case I get runded over or killded)
Cell phone - most important

2 tubes, 2 CO2, pre-glued patches, tire boot, multitool, 2 tire levers, and I do have a frame-mounted mini pump as well.

I ride prepared.

Inflator and a couple CO2 cartridges, plus cash to use as a boot if I need it.

If you want to patch the tube, do it at home.

Also, I like to carry more cartridges than I could need, in case I see a fellow cyclist in distress. Riding around town, sometimes you see a person walking a road bike...

Identical to my setup.

Spare tube, patch kit, pump on downtube, 3 irons ('cept they are plastic), 8" of gaffer's tape wrapped around the thing that the irons fit into. Also, three Allen wrenches rubber banded together. They are in case I want to make any in-flight adjustments.

If I add CO2 and a boot I'll have this set up - you don't think it's a bit overkill? I was thinking of either CO2 or pump, but not both.

Hey guys, do you put all your stuff in a saddle bag or carry it in your jersey pocket? Which one is the right way to do it?

Camelback with storage. Takes care of water AND flat kit!

I've been considering cutting open my water bottles and storing all my tubes and stuff in there and then using a camelback for my hydration.

I carry the pump with CO2 capabilities on the down tube. 2 bottles of CO2, 1 tube, multi tool, pedros tire lever, presta to schrader adapter (in case im near a gas station I dont have to waste the $2 CO2). If I am out of CO2, I like the pump because like 2 nights ago, it saved us and got us home. Pumping them sucks for sure, but when youre down and out.. anything is better than nothing.

I carry the carbon fiber mini one and its out of the way and cant notice the weight difference.

There's the checklist. Early and late in the season I'll have wetsuit on the first list as well.
