i was robbed- 1980 illinois road championship
in 1980 I was veteran time trail Champion for Illinois, no results were ever posted anywhere. The following day in the road race the entire pack missed the first turn except for me,”hey, that was our turn back there!” they ignored me but I went back and got back on the course, no way they could have ever caught me, at the start finish the officials made me stop and wait while they re-started the race.,,,,,,Of course by then I was stiff and dropped off the back, but with a lap to go I caught the pack and then then they announced the race was over a lap early, someone recently told me Al Hereweyers acted in complete variance with USCF rules, in other words I should have been the winner of the 1980 state road championship.I would have had two gold medals, in my 10 year bicycle racing career I never used any performance enhancing substance, and for a former turkey, I was fast, damn fast. How do I know this? In Roller races I was a half inch behind on the dial to big named riders, and i was over thirty when I started racing and 40 when I won my gold medal! I have lost my championship medal and have nothing to show for it, can you help me in any way? Its like I was forgotten after I was hit by an 18 wheeler on December first of that year and actually killed, after they jump started me and I spent months in a hospital I never raced USCF again. Thanx,, a forgotten rider, Allen Lindquist ( i tried to send this to USCF, no addy worked so I tried velo news, same deal) um, you have to race with your head not just your legs!

Look at that, I even have the car on my desk at work:
A little banged up and missing a wheel, but dang it looks fast.

I think I see some remnants of illegal graphite there.

There's a crapload of graphite on there. If it was illegal (back then) it wasn't enforced because only the dorks who didn't want to mess up their paint jobs weren't using it.
That suckers also got the lead in the rear for that extra 3" push and has the nails canted up and polished.

And now that I'm thinking about it, there was a "Dad's race" that me pop's attempted. He thought he had some secret design that would conquer all but apparently it didn't work because he scrapped his car and used mine from the year before. Little did he know in the intervening 12 months it had taken several trips down our steep driveway while being shot at with a BB gun. He did poorly.

And in that thread did somebody post a pic of the bike he used to win the 1980 IL RR? With a Chuck Norris plate and Penthouse compass?
