Can someone help me price my Cannondale? I would like to sell it ASAP

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have a Cannondale Advanced CAAD3 road bike that I would really like to sell for something else.. Can someone please help me put a fair price on it? Its in really nice shape. Little to no scratches. Thank you to anyone willing to help.. Here is a pic below, if you would like a clearer shot, I will go take one this evening... Thank you again.

You can always ask for a higher price.

$250 is silly. STIs look like 6500 Ultegra, and the fork is quite decent. I would say ~$400-$450 depending on condition.

Not in the market here.

Nothing says Ultegra.

Agreed, there were two similar (but older and odd sized ones) that came and went off of Craigslist quickly in that price range. That one looks better than the two around here (East Central WI area).

Ask $500 but take less. People want to bargain on used bikes. I would say depending on the market and if it's in good shape you could get $400. I've seen lesser bikes go for more. It just takes a motivated buyer and a seller willing to take his time. If you want a quick sale then list it for less.

You aren't going to get a lot for it either way. However it is a nice bike. Why not keep it, ride it and save until you can afford something else you want?

That seems a little high to me, maybe ask $450 and expect $350. Kind of depends on components and condition, too. Might be worth picking up a $10 or so seat that isn't torn, too.

It is a proven negotiating fact that "round numbers" invite more haggling than precise numbers. So try $483.11, see how that goes.

I paid $325 for my 1999 CAAD3 R1000D. Full Ultegra 9 speed and Mavic CXP 23 rims. I buy'n'sell road bikes all the time and if I were to post mine for sale I would be asking $750 with the expectation of getting $500 within a week and 600 to 700 withing a month.

Set that bike up correctly (drop the stem a little lower and raise the seat slightly) and take better pictures of the money side of that bike.

You want a quick sale so you're at a disadvantage, but in situations like this, it isn't a matter of finding the right price. It is a matter of finding the right buyer (i.e. no one here)....

Trust me I know. I feed my cycling habit this way...

Thank you for all of the replies. Here are some component shots for those that asked. Nothing special, I don't think?

I think 10 Wheels original estimate of $250 is about right. Start with asking $350 and you might get $300. The components are 105, which were essentially the bottom back then. The wheels are also the bottom end of Mavic.

Price also depends on where in the world you are...some people might be willing to give you £180 for that.

I would think the 105 components alone make it worth $350-$400.

I had a '99 R300 CAAD3 that I sold 3 years ago for $350 after listing it for 375. It was on CL for a week (in Miami) and had tiagra/sora components rather than 105. I'd imagine yours would get 375-400 in Miami.
