You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. As I am to mine, which is what I believe the OP asked for. This is an opinion by someone who owns and rides 101's. They aren't just shallower(than what?) aluminum rims. They are wide(23mm) which does make a difference. And absolutely rideable as every day rims.

Of course, and I'm not trying to say you're wrong, you've had a good experience with those wheels which is great; I demo'd them the second they were made available and enjoyed them. The fact of the matter is most companies are releasing wider rims now, my HEDs are just as wide as the Zipps. Also when we say shallower, we are referring to the rest of their line up minus the 202. My perspective is someone who works in a shop and interacts with large amounts of owners of different products. So when I say that I don't think they're the best option for daily riders, it's not an abstract opinion, it's from seeing real world problems.

So we have differing opinions which are both conducive to this thread. :thumb:

Get the Zipps. I absolutely love mine. They have a wider rim profile, which makes them more aero and you can run lower pressure. I bought them to replace a pair of 2quik carbon38 mm rims I didn't like, the zipps are much faster. Saying zipp 101's are " just a shallow aluminum rim wheel" is like saying a 911 is "just a car". Only other thing I'd even consider is the american classic tubeless wheels seen at the Tour.

LOL.

Zipp 101s are just shallow aluminum rim wheels with Zipp decals. Sorry to have left that out.

Nice to see the marketing fool you. :P

Speaking of Porsches, that's kinda like laying out Porsche coin for a Cayenne - it's just a damn Volkswagen Toureg with Porsche stuck on it.

Zipp is the only hub I have used that has cracked... An older 404.

From what I've seen/heard the newer Zipp hubs are of much higher quality than the older ones with the carbon end caps.

I'm looking for new wheelset, I was wondering if Zipp 101 are worth it or can you recommend something else. I want an everyday wheels and would be a great advantage to a solo rider.

check out the Rolf Prima Vigor. beats zipp 101 in the wind tunnel and otherwise very similar.

It's just the old SRAM S30 though. Narrow, hybrid toroidal.
